Investigating underlying causes
Our research teams are making foundational discoveries in molecular and genetic physiology. Using cutting-edge molecular and cellular approaches, we are investigating a number of aspects of physiology and biophysics, as well as dysfunction of these systems in diverse disease states. Current research areas include:
- molecular and cellular biology of ion channels and receptors
- lysosomal ion channels/transporters
- growth factors, tumour suppressors and cancer
- RNA-directed epigenetic regulation of gene expression
- role of neuropeptide VIP in respiratory diseases
- molecular analysis of cystic fibrosis
- epidemiology of cystic fibrosis in the Maritimes and medication adherence
- protein-protein interactions at retinal synapses
