Bienvenue - Welcome to the Department of French
The Department of French at Â鶹´«Ã½ is the only full-program department of its kind east of Ontario, with programs leading to a BA, MA, and PhD.
We offer a wide range of courses in language, literature, linguistics, culture²¹²Ô»åÌýcivilization at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The department has an impressive profile as an active and dynamic unit. It enjoys an international reputation thanks in great part to the quality of its faculty members, eminent teachers and scholars in their own right.
The diversity of course offerings, backgrounds and specializations of faculty members, the warm and student-friendly atmosphere, the competence of the administrative staff, the ideal classroom conditions (with an average of 30 students per first-year language class), the collegial upper level classes, the Cercle Français, the Club Français, the multiple learning opportunities provided by other academic units on campus, all combine to make studying in the Department of French at Â鶹´«Ã½ a uniquely exciting and enriching experience.
