Certificates recognize students who have achieved a level of proficiency or specialization in a particular area or subject. 

The Certificate in Integrated Pest Management explores the importance of managing many different kinds of pests – insects, weeds, and pathogens - that affect our natural and agricultural ecosystems. It will emphasize learning about the ecosystem characteristics that favour the presence of pests and students will design and develop management plans to prevent and address a variety of pests using physical, mechanical, cultural, biological and chemical approaches.

This program prepares students for careers in environmental management by giving them expertise specific to this field. In completing five courses as part of this certificate program, students will understand the social and environmental impacts of pests in modern society. The Faculty of Agriculture is home to faculty and staff who have expertise in pest management so students can expect to gain learning from first-hand experience and research.

This certificate is open to students eligible for admission to or enrolled in a BSc or BSc (Agr) program at either of Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Halifax or Truro campuses.

Certificate Requirements

Total of 15 credit hours required to be completed within 5 years (maximum).
