Laser Safety Program

A number of teaching and research activities at Â鶹´«Ã½ employ the use of lasers.

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Laser Safety Program is intended to assist the university community in the safe use of lasers and the effective control of laser hazards.

Key elements of the laser safety program include:

  • Laser Registration
  • Permits
  • Training & Awareness

All Class 3B, Class 4, and embedded Class 3B and 4 lasers on Â鶹´«Ã½ campuses must be registered with the Laser Safety Officer (LSO). It is the responsibility of the Principal Investigator (PI) to register the laser, receive and maintain the Laser Safety permit, and fulfill all conditions associated with the permit.
