As of Monday, May 15, the Downie Wenjack Legacy Space on the main floor of the Killam Library will be closed for lighting and HVAC upgrades. This includes the Learning Commons, IT Help Desk, Hardware Services, Ko'jua Okuom, Writing Centre, and the Atlantic Research Data Centre. ÌýThe space is expected to reopen before the Fall semester starts in September.
Help Desk staff and services will be available at the Killam Library Service Point throughout the duration of the closure.
The Ko’jua Okuom Indigenous Community Room will be available for use on National Indigenous People’s Day (Wednesday, June 21, 2023) and during the North American Indigenous Games (July 15–23, 2023).
This closure is part of the first phase of the Killam Library deep energy retrofit project that will update heating, ventilation, and lighting in the building on a space-by-space schedule with plans to be completed by January 2026.
Upcoming closures and project progress will be communicated through Today@Dal, library signage, and updates on the . Library staff will also be able to answer questions and help with resource requests during disruptions.
