Position:ÌýTeaching Assistant for ENVS 1200: Environmental ChallengesÌýWinter Term 2023
Salary:ÌýÌý1 TA at 90 hours as per CUPE Collective Agreement
Job Description:
Teaching AssistantsÌý(TAs)Ìýwill lead undergraduate students in tutorial sessions covering a variety of topics in introductory-level environmental science.ÌýTAs will grade tutorial assignments and student participation. The tutorials are designed to be hands-on to provide opportunities for small groupÌýactivities andÌýdiscussions. Each TA will lead two 1.5-hour tutorials per week forÌýapproximatelyÌý11ÌýweeksÌýand spend time preparing for and grading tutorials and lab reports.ÌýTA will also be responsible for invigilating the midterm and final exam and assistingÌýwith grading the exams.
The TA 90 position,Ìýin addition to the responsibilities listed above, willÌýalsoÌýassist withÌýcommunicating with students via emailÌýin terms of missed tutorials and exams, creating rubrics, proofreading handouts, and grading student essays.

Qualifications/Experience:
Successful applicants must beÌýaÌýsenior undergraduate,Ìýgraduate,Ìýor professional student at Â鶹´«Ã½ in a field related to environmental science/studies or with undergraduate education in a field related to environmental science. TAs must be reliable, energetic, and enthusiastic about the tutorial topics.ÌýExperience with basic statistical packages would be an asset.ÌýThey must also be comfortable in facilitating the learning of undergraduate students.
