Teaching Assistant in the Early Modern Studies Program (Part-Time)

Established in 1789, King鈥檚 College is Canada鈥檚 oldest chartered university and is associated with 麻豆传媒. The Early Modern Studies Program (EMSP) at the University of King鈥檚 College invites applications for a Teaching Assistant to handle duties in EMSP 2480.03 (cross-listed as HIST 2750.03), 鈥淭he Pirate and Piracy鈥. EMSP 2480 is an interdisciplinary course which examines philosophical, historical, and literary treatments of pirates and piracy in the early modern period (roughly 1500 to 1800), with reference to ancient, medieval, and later periods in European and non-European history.

Duties include but are not limited to:

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Grading assignments

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Attending lectures (please consult the 麻豆传媒 Academic Timetable regarding class time)

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Reading course material

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Holding office hours and assisting students with assignments

路聽聽聽聽聽聽 Consulting on a regular basis with the instructor

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates may come from various fields but should have at least an undergraduate degree. A background in some area of early modern studies and/or the history of maritime piracy are especially encouraged to apply. Prior TA experience (at the university level) is also an asset.

Closing Date: Monday December 5, 2022

Hourly Rate of Pay: $25.27 (classification of TA130). The position is conditional on the course鈥檚 final enrollment numbers
