POSITIONS: Teaching Assistant (65 hr), Marker (35 hr), ENVS 2100, Environmental Informatics

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Environmental Science, Faculty of Science

PAY RATE: according to the CUPE collective agreement

WORK ASSISIGNMENT:The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for assisting the primary instructor, supporting and occasionally leading the computer lab sessions, grading student assignments, tests, and quizzes, responding to student queries, supporting the Marker, and helping to ensure timeliness and consistency of grade submissions. The position requires availability during lab sessions, which occur Tuesdays at 8:35 am – 9:55 am during the fall 2022 term. The successful candidate will report directly to the instructor.

The Marker will grade student assignments, tests, and quizzes. They will also work collaboratively with the Teaching Assistant and the instructor. They will assist with Brightspace tasks and attend the occasional lab.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:The Teaching Assistant must be a senior undergraduate or graduate student at 鶹ý with GIS experience (familiarity with R coding an asset). The ability to communicate effectively, lead tutorials, grade assignments in a timely manner, and provide constructive feedback to students are key assets for these positions.

Marker (60 hrs), ENVS 3501: Environmental Problem Solving I

POSITION: Marker (60 hrs), ENVS 3501: Environmental Problem Solving I

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Environmental Science, Faculty of Science

PAY RATE: according to the CUPE collective agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT:The Marker will be responsible for assisting the course instructor teaching ENVS 3501 “Environmental Problem Solving I” by grading quizzes and assignments as well as updating and maintaining the class grade database. The Marker will report directly to the ENVS 3501 instructor.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: The Marker must be a senior undergraduate, graduate, or professional student at 鶹ý. Preference will be given to candidates with a broad environmental focus in their studies (experience in both science and social science is an asset) and experience with Brightspace. The Marker must be reliable, energetic, and enthusiastic about the position. The Marker will be required to work online and in consultation with the instructor of the course.
