Part‑time academic posting (Philosophy)

A part-time academic is required to teach PHIL 2480 (Environmental Ethics) in the winter term (January – April 2022). The class is scheduled for in-person instruction on Tues.&Thurs from 11:30am-1:00pm The Part-Time Academic’s duties involve full responsibility for the class including but not limited to: class lectures, office hours, development of course outlines, preparation and grading of assignments, tests and exams. The position reports to the Chair of the Department.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and ongoing extensions to social distance protocols, Â鶹´«Ã½ may elect to move this course online. Experience with teaching in an online environment is required. All instructors hired to teach online will be supported by Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s Centre for Learning and Teaching, and Academic Technology Services (support@dal.ca), to deliver their courses online. Ph.D. or ABD (Philosophy) and teaching or research experience are required to be considered for the job. The teaching or research experiences will be assessed with respect to their quality and to how closely they relate to the subject matter of the course. Evidence of teaching effectiveness is required. Research experience shall include at least one of the following: graduate classes taken in the subject matter of the course, graduate theses written in the subject matter of the course, publications or presentations on topics falling within the subject matter of the course.

All offers of employment as a Part-Time Academic are conditional upon sufficient student enrolment in the course and approval by the University.
