Position Title:Ìý Postdoctoral Fellow

Job summary & Key responsibilities:Ìý Â鶹´«Ã½ invites applications from qualified, highly motivated candidates for a full-time, 18 months term postdoctoral position in Pharmacology. The postdoctoral fellow will be conducting an industry-involved Mitacs-funded research project on the assessment of natural compounds (such as cannabinoids and terpenes) for the treatment of interstitial cystitis, an inflammatory bladder disorder, using experimental models. Investigations will evaluate the in vivo efficacy and tolerability of the compounds in company-developed formulations for bladder pain and inflammation compared to the existing standard of clinical care, and examine the in vitro toxicity of the compounds in bladder uroepithelial cells. The research will be carried out at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, under the supervision of Dr. Juan Zhou and Dr. Christian Lehmann.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position: ÌýThe successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Immunology, cell biology, or related discipline within the last five years. They will have demonstrated prior experience in working with mice, fluorescence microscope, cell and molecular biology. Also, a good publication record is an asset.
Salary Range/Pay Rate: $46,000 CAD per year (plus benefits)
