Employment Opportunity: Registrar’s Office – Senior Recruitment Officer (10-month contract, for 3 years)

The Senior Recruitment Officer will work to meet the recruitment goals of the University of King’s College by providing prospective students and those that influence them with detailed information on the King’s experience. This will include extensive travel to promote the College in markets across the country. This individual will be responsible for fostering engagement with prospective students and continually enhancing the relationship with high schools by communicating with school counselors and teachers. The Senior Recruiter is expected to develop in-depth reporting and analysis of their markets.
Specific Duties/Accountabilities
The Senior Recruitment Officer is responsible for the following:
• representing the college at post-secondary events and college fairs throughout Canada;
• promoting the university by delivering presentations to high schools, community groups, and the general public;
• maintaining relationships with high school personnel and provides up-to-date information to counselors;
• scheduling school visits and travel;
• assisting with on-campus recruitment initiatives and events, including open houses and campus tour programmes;
• reporting and analyzing recruitment markets;
• utilizing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) to assist in the recruitment of students and the promotion of King’s College; and
• processing applications, entering data, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications
Education – Undergraduate degree required - experience in marketing and communication preferred. Preference will be given to University of King’s College graduates.
Experience - Experience in public speaking and representative roles is required. Superb oral and written communication skills are essential. Candidates should have administrative experience and competency with Microsoft Office suite. A valid driver’s license is required. Incumbent must be willing to travel for extended periods. This position requires flexible work hours outside of regular office hours including evening and weekend work.

Salary: $3,500 (monthly) plus benefits

Employment Opportunity: Facilities Department – Building Systems Technician (Plumbing)
The Facilities Department of the University of King’s College is looking for a Building Systems Technician (Plumbing) who would be responsible for plumbing, maintenance (preventative, corrective and immediate repair) and mechanical work. This position works as part of a team, and cross-training/maintenance work outside of the primary plumbing trade is expected.
SPECIFIC DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Under the Supervision and guidance of the Facilities Manager, the Building Systems Technician (Plumbing) is responsible for the following:
• Install, repair and maintain plumbing and heating related devices such as but not limited to pumps, water distribution piping, valves, fixtures, back flow preventers and drainage interceptors
• Make recommendations for upgrading plumbing systems based on economical and professional judgement
• Installs and maintains drainage systems including chemical resistant
• Performs preventative maintenance tasks on designated plumbing and heating related equipment
• Routine maintenance checks on building mechanical systems including but not limited to inspection, maintenance and repair of belts/filters
• Assists with emergency generator maintenance and testing
• Performs repairs and maintenance to heating systems, including calibrating and repairing pneumatic controls
• Monthly inspections, repairs, and necessary replacements of fire safety equipment including fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, fire doors and pull stations
• General maintenance and renovation tasks as assigned from the Micromain System
• Performs all duties in accordance with the Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety Act, as well as University and government rules and regulations
• Maintains a clean work environment in the Facilities Shop and in the areas of all work projects
• Operation of heavy machinery for snow removal
• Parking Enforcement
• On call duties (24 hours per day, 7 days per week) and/or when emergency services are required
• Other related duties as assigned by the Manager

The successful candidate will need:
• Valid Plumbing Certification (as recognized by the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency).
• HVAC and heating knowledge/experience
• Occupation Health & Safety Certification
• WHMIS Certification
It will be considered an asset if the Candidate possess:
• Red Seal Designation
• Certified Building System Technician Training
• Fall Arrest
• CPR/First Aid
• JGL & Scissor Lift Certified
Applicants with computer experience and trade related work experience and knowledge will be given preference.
