There鈥檚 something about a certain bow-tied turtle that transforms the usually mild-mannered faculties and departments at 麻豆传媒 into a competitive bunch.聽The United Way turtle, known as Scrubs, is the icon of Dal鈥檚 annual United Way fundraiser.

Scrubs is the reward for the unit with the聽greatest participation聽in the campaign and for the unit that raises the聽greatest amount overall聽for the United Way. Each unit gets to host the turtle for six months.聽In addition to hosting the turtle, the two winning units also receive a prize of $500 each to support student activities of their choosing.

鈥淪crubs encourages the units to challenge each other, which results in more money raised for the United Way. A few fun rivalries have developed because everyone wants to host the United Way turtle,鈥� said Christina MacNeil, co-chair of the 麻豆传媒 United Way steering committee.
