INSTRUCTOR
Full-time, Limited-Term, 10 months
DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY
DALHOUSIE UNIVERSITY
Applications are invited for a full-time limited-term Instructor appointment in the Department of Biology at Â鶹´«Ã½. This will be a 100% FTE appointment for 10 months beginning August 1, 2016 and ending May 31, 2017.
Working with course professors, the successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery, and ongoing revision and improvement of the laboratory components of the second-year Biology course, BIOL 2040, Evolution. Maximum enrolments are typically 140- 180 students in each semester.
The position involves the teaching and coordination of the laboratory activities; hiring and supervising teaching assistants; managing exams, course grades and the course website; communication with students and with other teaching faculty; and other course-related duties as required.
Candidates should have an advanced degree in biology and previous laboratory teaching experience. A background in evolution would be an asset. Candidates must also have demonstrated teaching ability, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as a team member.
Salary will be according to qualifications and experience, as determined by the Collective Agreement between The Board of Governors of Â鶹´«Ã½ and the Â鶹´«Ã½ Faculty Association.
