2015 marks the 10th anniversary of the annual You’re Hired Interview Competition, which was created by Dr. Jack Duffy, and the late Dr. Sunny Marche, long-time professors in the Rowe School of Business. Over the years, the You're Hired Interview Competition has seen close to 400 students participate for the chance to win cash prizes, network with employers, and strengthen their career skills.
The You're Hired Interview Competition is a unique event that challenges business students to put their communication and interview skills to the test. Students compete in a resume and cover letter round, followed by an elevator pitch and mock interview round, before the top three advance to the finals. The finalists, two of whom are selected from Â鶹´«Ã½ and one from St. Mary's University, then must interview in front of a panel of judges and a live audience.
Event sponsor, Scotiabank, plays a hands-on role in the competition, as do a variety of other local employer partners who serve as competition judges. Their generous support and enthusiastic participation provides participating students with invaluable feedback that they can apply directly to future real-world interview scenarios.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ community is invited to watch the finalists in action on Friday, Jan. 23rd, as they compete to win the top prize - the Dr. Sunny Marche Memorial Award and $1,000 cash. Entrance will only be permitted between each interview:
1st interview: 8:45 a.m. - 9:50 a.m.
2nd interview: 10 a.m. – 10:50 a.m.
3rd interview: 11 a.m. – 11:50 a.m.
As part of our celebration of this milestone event, non-perishable food donations to Feed Nova Scotia will be accepted at the door. For more information about the You’re Hired Interview Competition, email Kelly.Tracey@dal.ca
