Isabel Sarty, Swimming
Third-year swimmer Isabel Sarty is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Female Athlete of the Week.
Isabel had a part in setting four new AUS records in leading the Tigers to their 19th consecutive AUS championship win over the weekend.
She won four individual finals (50m, 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle events) and led all three Tigers relays to victory, earning six gold medals at the championship meet.
She set new AUS, Â鶹´«Ã½ and Nova Scotia Senior records twice in the 100m freestyle (heats and finals) and set a new Â鶹´«Ã½ and Nova Scotia Senior record in the 200m freestyle.
Isabel also set new AUS Â鶹´«Ã½ and Nova Scotia Senior records as a member of the Tigers 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m medley relay teams.
The 2020 AUS Swimmer of the Year, she was also named the 2020 AUS Female Swimmer of the Championship Meet.
A neuroscience major, Isabel is from Halifax, N.S.
Christian Payne, Swimming
Second-year swimmer Christian Payne is this week’s MUSCLE MLK Male Athlete of the Week.
Christian led the Tigers to a second-place team finish at the 2020 Subway AUS Championships over the weekend.
He displayed a gritty performance, winning both the 50m and 100m backstroke events, posting lifetime-best times. He also earned a silver medal in the 200m backstroke with another personal best time.
Christian earned three more silvers as a member of all three of the Tigers relay teams, bringing his total weekend medal count to six.
A native of Dartmouth, N.S., Christian is an arts major.
