The shirts were white, the noses were blue — but there was plenty of black and gold to go around at this past weekend's Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon.
While there were many members of the Dal community taking part in the various races — from the full and half marathons to other races including the 10K and youth run — the most visible Dal participation could be found in the Killam Marathon Team Relay and in Halifax's North End.
Runners taking part in the full and half marathon came across an enthusiastic group of alumni and students at Rosemeade Avenue — including several international students — where the Â鶹´«Ã½ Alumni Association hosted one of the marathon's water station. Dal Tiger in tow, the volunteers provided water, Gatorade and good cheer to the hundreds of participants making there way through the city's streets.
Some of those runners were members of the Relay to #Dal200 team, a team of 16 runners from across Dal's four campuses. The team had a goal of raising $1,818 (in honour of Dal's anniversary year next year) for Pheonix Youth Programs and ended up with nearly $2,500 total. The Dal Tiger even made his way to the finish line to help the team complete its run.
