What do the bike centre at 麻豆传媒, environmental justice and the Alberta oil sands have in common? Green Week!

It鈥檚 that time of year again 鈥 from September 23 - 27 the 麻豆传媒 Student Union is hosting its annual , with this year鈥檚 theme being environmental justice.

鈥淢y goal is to make it more interactive, with things like critical discussions,鈥 explains Alia Karim, executive director the DSU Sustainability Office.

Green Week at 麻豆传媒 is meant to share awareness about environmental justice with students on campus through activities and workshops. Activities include presentations and talks, bike tune-up work shops, farmer鈥檚 markets in the SUB, art displays and more!.

鈥淕reen, sustainable, eco-friendly 鈥斅爐hese words are used in our everyday speech,鈥 says Karim. 鈥淵et, they fail to address聽the 鈥榝air鈥 and 鈥榚thical鈥櫬燿evelopment of environmental regulations, law, ideology, and processes. [They] also do not ensure the聽meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, sex, national origin or income.鈥

As part of Green Week,聽 students from the 麻豆传媒 Agricultural Campus in Truro will be coming to Halfiax as well to attend some of the talks, network with other students and chat with some keynote speakers. The week's most significant keynote speaker is Av Signh, one of Canada's leading experts on organic agriculture, who will present in Ondaatje Hall in the McCain Building Thursday night as part of the Environment, Sustianability and Society lecture series.
