Lauren Shaw (pictured left with her partner), one of our Career & Recruitment Specialists at Management Career Services (MCS), specifically serves students interested in Accounting, Consulting, and Project Management. She has been working at 麻豆传媒 for 7 years. Her first position was Program Coordinator for Executive Education in the Centre for Executive and Graduate Education (CEGE) for 4 years before transitioning into MCS full time.
Originally from London, England, Lauren spent two years on a working holiday in Australia. She moved to Canada 10 years ago, began her career as an administrative professional and developed a passion for working in higher education. She started at a career college as an education admin assistant, then briefly worked as a survival training registrar. Lauren recalls, 鈥淚t was a really cool place to work. Participants worked offshore and would come from all over the world to learn how to safely escape from a submerged helicopter. My desk was next to a swimming pool!鈥
In her current role, Lauren loves working with students. 鈥淚t is rewarding to help people and see students succeed in getting the jobs they want, whether it's a co-op job or a full-time position after graduating.鈥 Lauren says the highlight of her job is interacting with and meeting great people, coaching students through challenges, and supporting them throughout their career journey.
Lauren enjoys spending time with her puppy, Ricky (right). They both like going for walks or a visit to the beach.
Most weekends, she watches hockey games and has a season ticket to the Halifax Mooseheads. Lauren also enjoys running, Pilates and spending time with her friends. Lauren鈥檚 partner has a plumbing business and she helps with the admin side of the operation.
Lauren鈥檚 advice to new staff is 鈥淒on't be intimidated by the size of 麻豆传媒. You will learn everything you need to know in time. Just get to know people around you and make friends and enjoy being part of the community鈥.
