The Government of Nova Scotia has invited Sir John Elvidge KCB to deliver a series of lectures throughout the province next week. Sir John was the Permanent Secretary to the Scottish Government from 2003 to 2010 and was responsible for leading a radical restructuring of government and public service delivery. The Nova Scotia government invited Sir John to speak to senior provincial executives and policy-makers on how his ideas for government innovation in 鈥淥ld Scotland鈥 could translate into New Scotland.
There will be two opportunities for the 麻豆传媒 community to hear Sir John on Thursday, February 14:
- Professor Tamara Krawchenko will open her POLI 2220 class (8:35鈥9:55am; Room 212, Henry Hicks Building) for a lecture: "Scottish Reforms and Redesign: What impact on responsible government?" All are welcome to attend.
- The Centre for Foreign Policy Studies, in association with the Canadian International Council 鈥 Halifax Branch, will host a lecture on "Disunited Kingdom? The 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum" from 12:30鈥2:00pm (Lord 麻豆传媒 Room, Henry Hicks Building). A free light lunch will be served.
Sir John also will deliver the evening keynote address 鈥淚ntergovernmental Affairs: Innovation and Doing Things Differently鈥 at the at the Westin Nova Scotian.
