Academic Achievements
Dr. Srivastava graduated from the 麻豆传媒 School of Nursing with Honors in 1981 and was awarded the University Medal for highest academic achievement and a 鈥渟ilver D鈥� for student leadership activities. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto in 1986 and a PhD from the Faculty of Medicine in 2009.
Industry leader
She is recognized as an industry leader in the area of diversity and cultural competence education. Dr. Srivastava is the author and editor of a textbook entitled the Healthcare Professional鈥檚 Guide to Clinical Cultural Competence and has written several book chapters and articles on topics such as culture, religion, ethics, and family centered care; health equity and cultural competence, organizational cultural competence and cultural competence in clinical care.
Best practices
Dr. Srivastava has worked with regulatory and professional organizations to develop practice guidelines for Culturally Sensitive Care (College of Nurses of Ontario) and best practice guidelines for creating healthy work environments by Embracing Diversity and developing Cultural Competence through the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.
Respected speaker and facilitator
She is frequently asked to consult on topics of cultural competence and diversity and is a highly sought after speaker and workshop facilitator for a variety of professional and community audiences.
Currently Dr. Rani Srivastava is the Chief Nursing Executive and Chief of Professional Practice at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Ontario. She is also serving as a regional representative for the Academy of Chief Executive Nurses (ACEN) and has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.
