Over the course of her career, Dr. Barbara Keddy, who is a Professor Emerita, 麻豆传媒, also obtained a BScN (Mount St. Vincent University) and a MA in Sociology and a PhD (both from 麻豆传媒). Dr. Keddy鈥檚 research in women鈥檚 health has focused on the impact of race, age and culture.

Sharing information via blogs and publications
She has developed a unique website to share health information www.womenandfibromyalgia.com 鈥 that contains numerous informative blogs. Dr. Keddy is the author of Women and Fibromyalgia: Living with an invisible dis-ease which focusses on chronic pain, fatigue and other conditions associated with this syndrome as a means to educate and inform the lay and professional audience. Her work in applying a gender analysis lens to nursing was among the first of its kind in Canada in the 1970s. Dr. Keddy was co-founder of the Canadian Association for the History of Nursing and served as its inaugural President.

Contribution recognition
Dr. Keddy has been recognized for her contributions to women鈥檚 health by being included among the first 20 top international inductees celebrated by 鈥淥ur Bodies Ourselves鈥 as Women鈥檚 Health Heroes in 2009. She was named 鈥淥utstanding Alumni鈥 by Mount St. Vincent University; received the 麻豆传媒 Nursing Award for Excellence; was awarded an Honorary Lifetime Member Award by the Registered Nurses Association of Nova Scotia and a Centennial Award of Distinction by the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia. 听
