Posted by Kathy MacFarlane on April 18, 2024 in News

Last year’s popular DentDays weekend is back for 2024! Mark your calendars for October 25-26 and prepare to gather your friends together and have fun. We invite all reunion groups to plan their activities and gatherings around our events and to participate in as much as possible that weekend.

Plans are taking shape
The DDS and DDH classes of 1974 are this year’s Golden Grads, celebrating their 50th anniversary. The dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and the director of the School of Dental Hygiene are hosting a luncheon for these classes on Friday, October 25. Watch for more information soon.

New this year is a celebration for our Silver Grads, who are marking their 25th anniversary. The DDS and DDH classes of 1999 will receive invitations to a luncheon hosted by the dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and the director of the School of Dental Hygiene, which takes place on Saturday, October 26.

Several reunion classes are already busy making plans for the DentDays weekend. All groups are welcome to plan a tour of the clinic and gather for official class photos on Friday in the Dentistry Building. Friday is also the perfect night to plan your private class dinner. Halifax is filled with great restaurants – some filled with memories of your days at Dal, and some new and exciting places for you to try. Start contacting restaurants now to book your space.

On Saturday, our popular CE Day is back for another year. Watch for more information soon and sign up for the classes you want as soon as you can. For those not taking part in CE, Halifax is full of wonderful sights, tours, and things to do. You can even consider a short drive to the Annapolis Valley for apples and wine!

Saturday evening we will honour our 2024 Outstanding Alumni Award recipients. The deadline for nominations is May 1, so there is still time to . This is a lovely, intimate event during which we recognize the remarkable accomplishments of our alumni. Watch out for some new award categories in 2025.

The weekend will wrap up with a toe-tapping Kitchen Party at the Grawood Pub in the Student Union Building. Last year’s attendees said they hoped to see more faculty and staff members from their days at Dal. We are working to invite current and retired faculty and staff in the hope that they will join us. Current students will also be invited, by popular request!

Sign up early
Make sure you sign up for the Kitchen Party when registration opens – before tickets run out. You will be able to do this when you receive the June issue of The Current.
