This week, the student Food Pantry is hosting its annual Fall Food Drive! From Monday Nov. 25 - Friday Nov.29
We are seeking donations of food items to support students in our community now and through the winter holidays. Food insecurity continues to grow among our student population, and many students on our campus struggle with affording and accessing sufficient nutritious and safe food. We ask that you please consider making a donation if you are able to support us this season!
What to donate:
We take both perishable and non-perishable food items! If you'd like to make a perishable donation, please contact me directly (info below) to make arrangements.
Most commonly needed items:
peanut butter
dried or canned beans/lentils/etc.
rice
canned soup
canned vegetables
individually wrapped snacks (granola
bars/bear paws/instant noodles/etc.)
pasta & pasta sauce
cereal/oatmeal
canned fish/meat
cooking essentials
(sugar/flour/salt/oil/etc.)
We also accept fresh or frozen meats, vegetables, and fruit along with other perishable items such as bread. Please contact alexe (alexe.indigo@dal.ca) to arrange a donation of frozen or refrigerated items! We also accept donations of:
menstrual products
egg cartons (6 and 12-egg sizes)
reusable grocery bags
Please contact me if you wish to arrange a monetary donation.
Where to bring food donations:
Donation bins are available at several key locations around campus!Â
Department offices (PFES, BSS, ASA, Eng)
Student Learning Commons
Cumming Hall (main level)
We can also pick up donations on or off campus if requested.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support - it is greatly appreciated by me, the rest of our Food Pantry volunteers, and all students who rely on this resource during this time of year. Please reach out to me with any questions, thoughts, or concerns you may have.
