Saturday, October 15 , 4:30 p.m. at the Truro Farmers Market Hosted by the Living Earth Council
Colchester Local Food Week is a celebration of the vast variety of food available to us in this region, from carrots and chaga mushrooms, apples to blueberries. Unfortunately, much of that abundance gets wasted, whether in grocery stores, restaurants, or our own homes.
Disco Soup is a celebration of the solutions to Food Waste. Volunteers will collect perfectly edible food that would have been discarded. Then, everyone is invited to come with peelers and paring knives and together we will cut, chop, peel, dance, cook and eat.
Disco Soup began in 2012, initiated by Slow Food Youth Network Deutschland and quickly spread throughout the world. You can find inspiration by searching Disco Soup on . Wolfville, NS hosted a Disco Soup in 2015, and now Truro will join the list of communities making beautiful music, and delicious soup out of ingredients that were gleaned or gathered.
Don't come alone... bring a vegetable peeler, a bowl, a friend and wear your favourite veggie t-shirt or costume! We will provide the ingredients for a great time -food, fun and educational activities for the whole family, music, and, of course, a Disco Ball.
