Marine geoscientist Dr. Brian Todd retires

Dr. Brian Todd (MSc'84, PhD'88)'s has retired as a marine geoscientist from the Geological Survey of Canada at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Dartmouth, N.S., following rewarding, decades-long career.

Dr. Brian Todd (MSc'84, PhD'88)'s decades-long career included a number of expeditions on the CCGS Hudson and other vessels to the Arctic, Azores, and Bermuda. Following graduation in 1988, Dr. Todd accepted a postdoctoral position at Memorial University (N.L.), then moved to Ottawa in 1990 to join the Terrain Sciences Division of the GSC to work on permafrost landscapes in Canada and Russia.

Returning to Nova Scotia in 1995, Dr. Todd’s research interests included the glacial and post-glacial histories of the Scotian Shelf and the Great Lakes. In 2001, he was one of the founders of GeoHab, an international association of marine scientists dedicated to the study of geologic and oceanographic indicators of sea floor habitats and ecosystems.Â
